What makes a good domain?
Choosing the right domain name can make a huge difference in creating a successful on-line business. In general a domain name should be easy to remember, easy to spell and easy to say. This is for guidance only as there are always exceptions to the rule. For an overview on domain names and domain extensions visit our domain name guide.

What is an escrow/transfer service?
This is a service whereby property or money is held by a third party until the conditions of a contract have been fulfilled. Sedo act as a third party for the buyer and seller of a domain and hold the payment in an escrow account until the transfer is complete. Sedo guarantee 100% security when handling the transfer of your domains.
Generally, the escrow process follows the basic steps below:
- The buyer makes payment to Sedo’s escrow account
- The buyer/Sedo initiates the transfer request
- The seller accepts the transfer request
- New ownership of the domain is confirmed
- Funds are issued to the seller
Sedo do not instruct the seller to transfer the domain until they have received the buyer’s payment. Additionally, the buyer’s payment is only released to the seller once the buyer has confirmed that they have control of the domain. This process ensures a secure transfer.
How do I transfer the domain to my registrar?
Once payment has been received the domain is transferred to your registrar account. Payment is only made to us (the seller) when you have confirmed control over the domain. It is your responsibility to pay the domain registration fee and to provide details of your registrar.
